THE CAUSE
The Med vs Law Charity Classic brings Ottawa’s medical and legal communities together each year in support of organizations making a difference across our city.
The cause is an integral part of the Charity Classic. Each game provides an opportunity to rally students, families, friends, and members of the wider community around the work of a local organization, turning the excitement of game day into meaningful charitable support.
Inaugural Impact
The inaugural Med vs Law Charity Classic supported The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, one of Canada’s leading mental health care and research hospitals.
More than 350 spectators attended the first game, helping raise $6,645 for The Royal and its work supporting people and families affected by mental illness.
The partnership gave the Charity Classic its first opportunity to support an organization with a significant presence in the Ottawa community and established the charitable focus that continues to define the event.
2025 and Beyond
In 2025, the Med vs Law Charity Classic partnered with CHEO, a leading pediatric health and research centre providing specialized care to children and youth across Ottawa, Eastern Ontario, and beyond. Through clinical care, research, and family-focused programs, CHEO plays a central role in supporting children and families throughout the region.
Nearly 600 spectators attended the Charity Classic at TD Place, helping raise $14,212 for CHEO and more than doubling the event’s inaugural-year contribution.
The 2026 Med vs Law Charity Classic will once again support CHEO, continuing a partnership that has become an important part of the event’s charitable direction. Returning to CHEO allows the Charity Classic to build on the support generated in 2025 while continuing to contribute to an organization with a longstanding and significant presence in the Ottawa community.
Looking ahead, CHEO is expected to remain a central charitable partner of the Charity Classic as the event continues to grow and expand its fundraising impact.
